Though ‘Big Boss’ is a familiar concept, actor Kamal Haasan’s first foray into Tamil television through the show will not have him merely as an anchor.

Star Vijay has revealed that the actor has been roped in as the ‘Lead Creative Partner’, which means that he gets to stamp his authority on the show, just like how he does with his films.

“He will be the lead creative voice of the show. Despite the show’s format itself being largely unscripted, Mr. Haasan was very clear that the show shouldn’t be diluted for the Tamil audiences. For us, it is a big statement of intent in our endeavour to provide Tamil market with innovative consumer experiences,” said Krishnan Kutty, General Manager, Star Vijay Ltd.

A 10,000 square feet luxurious house is being built at the EVP Film City just outside Chennai.

“It is going to be a well-done house, fitted with 35 cameras to monitor the 14 contestants. The 14 contestants will be picked from various walks of life — it won’t just be television celebrities or actors,” he said.

The shooting for the Big Boss episodes is likely to begin in 60 days.

Asked if more actors would find forays into television more lucrative in coming years, Mr. Kutty said, “the trick really is to bring the right project to the celebrity. We need to approach film celebrities with something that they are excited to do,” Mr. Krishnan Kutty said.
