Actor Vivek, who visited veteran director K. Balachander on Wednesday at a hospital in Chennai, said the auteur is showing signs of improvement.

Mr. Balachander was admitted to Kauvery Hospital, Chennai on Monday and is being treated for urinary infection.

“Just coming out of hospital. Our legendary dir KB sir is showing signs of improvement. Our prayers will bring him bk. Plz don’t believe rumors,” Vivek, who was introduced in the movie industry by the filmmaker, posted on his Twitter page.

According to hospital sources, Mr. Balachander is still in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), but his condition is stable.

Since Monday, several actors, filmmakers and politicians have visited him in the hospital. Superstar Rajinikanth was one of the first actors to visit his guru after he learnt about his health condition.

Mr. Rajinikanth said that Mr. Balachander recognised him and smiled at him.

Mr. Balachander’s favourite actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan, who is currently in Los Angeles busy with the post-production work of Tamil film “Uttama Villain”, conveyed through a video that he will visit him as soon as he is done with his work.

Mr. Kamal wishes to show the film to Mr. Balachander, who has played an important role in it.
