The 14th Metropolitan Magistrate Court has fixed August 8 for the police to shoot a video to reconstruct the crime and compare the result with old CCTV footage pertaining to the S. Swathi murder case.
P. Ramkumar, the suspect in the murder of the Infosys employee at the Nungambakkam railway station, will be handed over to the police for a day for completing the formalities.
The order was issued by Magistrate S. Gopinathan when the petition regarding collection of specimen signatures and comparing of photographs and video footage around the crime scene near the Nungambakkam railway station came up for hearing at the Egmore court on Thursday.
Two petitions
Appearing for the police, R. Kolanchinathan, assistant public prosecutor, had filed two petitions seeking collection of specimen signatures and comparison of the CCTV footage and photographs already in possession of the police, and permission to shoot a new video after reconstructing the crime as part of investigation.
A senior police officer said the specimen signature was being secured to establish that Ramkumar had stayed in the mansion from where several articles and documents had already been collected relating to Swathi’s murder.
The Egmore court had earlier given three days’ police custody for inquiry of the accused to the Nungambakkam police station on July 14.
During the custody, the accused was taken to the Nungambakkam railway station to recreate the murder scene.
