Jain International Trade Organisation (JITO) will organise a two-day international conference on January 15 and 16 at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, in which Law Minister M. Veerappa Moily, Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram and Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat will take part.
Talking to reporters, JITO Chairman, Suresh Mutha said that they had chosen ‘Sabka Gaurav Sabka Vikas' as the main theme of the 5th Global Summit-2011 that would be attended by over 7,500 delegates from different parts of the country.
The summit featuring B2B seminars would be addressed by eminent experts from various sectors of industry, politics, management and economy including The Hindu Editor-in-Chief, N. Ram; Member of Parliament & AICC spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi; Puducherry Chief Minister V. Vaithilingam; Muthoot Finance Chairman M.G. George Muthoot; Apollo Hospital Managing Director, Preetha Reddy; and GVK Group Chairman G.V.K. Reddy.
“Mr. Moily will inaugurate the summit, while Mr. Chidambaram will distribute wheel chairs, tricycles and clutches. Mr. Kamat will use this platform to invite Chennai-based Jain businessmen to invest in his State. In the first session, Mr. Ram will dwell on the role of media in culture and learning,” he said.
JITO has invited fresh business ideas from young and enterprising Jain entrepreneurs.
It received around 400 entries and they were being evaluated by Crisil. The top 10 to 15 projects would be financed under the ‘Sapno Ke Saudagar' scheme. The entrepreneurs would get upwards of Rs.25 lakh each.
A separate session on ‘women empowerment' will be held on Sunday, Mr. Mutha said.
As part of the Global Summit, three-day Jain International Trade Fair and Jain Pavilion will be held at Jain Dadawadi in Ayanavaram from January 14 that would be inaugurated by State Finance Minister, K. Anbazhagan.
“It is an international show with pan Indian presence. We expect about 1 lakh people to attend it. The trade fair will showcase Jain community on a common platform for economic empowerment, social uplift and community service. The pavilion will display Jain illustrated art/painting section, exhibits from different parts of the country and encyclopaedia of ‘Swetambar and Digambar' ancient Jain pilgrim centres in India,” Mr. Mutha said.
