Jayalalithaa for total rollback on petrol price

June 30, 2012 02:27 am | Updated 02:27 am IST - CHENNAI:

Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has called for a complete rollback on the price of petrol.

In a statement, she said that though the price of crude oil in the international market had come down drastically, the Centre had only made a partial rollback of Rs. 3.13 per litre. Citing the escalating price of crude oil, the Centre increased the price of petrol by Rs. 7.50 per litre of petrol on April 24.

Considering the quantum of fall in crude oil prices, it was possible to bring down the price of petrol to much lesser than what it was before April 24, Ms. Jayalalithaa added.
