Jayalalithaa announces solatium

It will be given through the State Forest Department

Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Tuesday announced solatium of Rs.3 lakh to the family of each of the three persons killed in different elephant attacks in the last one week along the western belt.

According to an official release, Ms. Jayalalithaa conveyed her condolences to the family of K. Lakshmanan of Serangode village in the Niligiris district, who was killed by an elephant on Tuesday.

Similarly, she condoled the deaths of K. Maran alias Marappa of Jaipuram Pudur village in Krishnagiri district and S. Sivaji of Thingalur village in Erode district who were killed in elephant attacks on April 16 and 12.

The solatium will be given through the State Forest Department, the release added.
