The 11th edition of the Israeli Film Festival kicked off at the Goethe Institut on Monday evening. Ziv Shalvi, Deputy Chief of Mission, Consulate General of Israel, declared the festival open.
“This is a great initiative,” said Mr. Shalvi, while addressing the gathering. “In the year 2017, we will be celebrating the 25th official anniversary of the establishment of full diplomatic ties between Israel and India. This film festival is making it even better,” he said.
Actor Lissy Lakshmi, who was also present at the event said, “By showcasing international films, we are promoting our cinema, culture and city as well.” The inauguration was followed by the screening of the Israeli film The World Is Funny .
The movies to be screened during the three-day festival include The Ballad of the Weeping Spring , A Hebrew Lesson , Nymphs in the Fog and One Flight for Us , which revolves around the holocaust. The movies will be screened at 6.15 p.m.
“We hope the audience would enjoy watching them,” said E. Thangaraj, general secretary of the Indo Cine Appreciation Foundation (ICAF).
