January 31, 2014 01:40 am | Updated May 13, 2016 01:19 pm IST - CHENNAI:

The Madras High Court on Thursday granted an interim stay on all further proceedings in a complaint of defamation against actor Anjali, which is pending before the XVII Metropolitan Magistrate, Saidapet.

Justice C.T. Selvam passed the interim order on a petition by the actor seeking to quash the proceedings against her before the court.

The complaint had been filed by film director Mu. Kalanjiyam of Ashok Nagar. The actor alleged the director had filed the complaint with a malafide intention and ulterior motive. She said she had not given any interview directly to any newspaper as alleged by the director.

The Judge said there was no representation of the respondent. He admitted the petition and granted the stay.
