Indoor stadium at medical college soon

In order the encourage students to take to sports, the government plans to construct a multi-purpose indoor stadium at Indira Gandhi Medical College, Kadhirkamam, Puducherry.

A synthetic athletic track will be laid at Indira Gandhi Sports Complex, Uppalam, and a swimming pool in Thandhai Periyar Nagar, Puducherry, at a cost of ₹5 crore during the year 2017-18.

The government also proposes to construct a women’s hostel in Saram at a cost of ₹9 crore.

District sports complex

A District sports complex will be built in Kalapet and a minor indoor badminton stadium in T.R. Pattinam.

The government has also proposed to enhance allowances and prize money for various sports competitions and also distribute cash awards to gold, silver and bronze medallists.
