A three-day second edition of Indian Youth Science Congress (IYSC) would be held here from June 26 with the objective of providing a national level forum for young research scholars and students.
IYSC would provide a forum for young professionals in agriculture, science and technology and innovation sectors to discuss and share the expertise and experiences on how to tap and utlise science for the country’s development, noted agriculture scientist M. S. Swaminthan, whose foundation is a joint organiser, told reporters here on Tuesday.
More than 500 delegates from around 200 colleges across the country were expected to participate in the conference, jointly organised by the city-based SRM University and the M. S. Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF).
Already about 400 delegates have registered for the conference which would be held in SRM University campus in Kattankulathur near here, its Vice-Chancellor P. Sathyanarayanan said.
About 600 papers in different areas of science would be presented during the meet, which will be inaugurated by ISRO Chairman Dr K. Radhakrishnan.
“Like Indian Science Congress Assocition, we are also planning to start a national level forum called Indian Science Youth Congress Association”, he said.
Various plenary sessions would be charied by eminent personalities such as Dr Sailesh Nayak, Secretary, Ministry of Earth Sciences, Dr Lalji Singh, Director, Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology and Dr George John, Advisor, Department of Biotechnology.
SRM University would be hosting the 98th edition of Indian Science Congress from January 3, 2011.
