“Implement BC panel recommendations”

May 07, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:59 am IST - CHENNAI:

DMK leader M. Karunanidhi on Wednesday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to implement the recommendations of the National Commission for Backward Classes for increasing the “creamy layer” criterion for OBCs from the present annual salary of Rs. 6 lakh to Rs. 10.50 lakh.

In a statement here, he said while the DMK was for dispensing with the creamy layer, it wanted implementation of the recommendations of the commission as it alone would ensure the benefits of reservation for the OBCs.

“The recommendation will pave way for crores of OBCs to get employment opportunities and education,” he said.
