Hunt on for six in PSBB drowning case

K.K. Nagar police are searching for six persons including Sheela Rajendra, deputy dean & director and correspondent of the PSBB Group of Schools in connection with the case of drowning of a class IV student on August 16.

The victim Ranjan (9), a student of Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan in K.K. Nagar, collapsed in the school pool during a morning swimming session. He was rushed to a hospital were doctors pronounced him ‘brought dead.’

K.K. Nagar police registered a case under Section 304 A (causing death by negligence) of IPC and arrested staff including swimming coach Rajasekaran (36), physical director Ravichandran (39), assistant swimming coach Arun Kumar (18), pool cleaner Ravi (31), pool contractor Ranga Reddy (64) and Sheela Rajendra (51). They were released on bail.

Police recently altered the case from Section 304 A to Section 304 (Part II) (culpable homicide not amounting to murder, where there is no intention to cause death) of IPC which is non-bailable.
