HR&CE Minister’s condition critical

The condition of P. Chendur Pandian, Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Minister, was declared critical on Tuesday.

The Minister, who was first admitted to Fortis Malar Hospital here, was later shifted to Apollo Hospitals on Tuesday morning following resuscitation.

“Presently he is critical. He is on continuous close monitoring at the Critical Care Unit,” according to a release issued by Apollo Hospitals.

The 63-year-old had earlier held the portfolios of Khadi and Village Industries and Tourism.

In May 2011, he was elected from the Assembly constituency of Kadayanallur in Tirunelveli district.

According to official sources, the Minister attended to work at the Secretariat till Monday afternoon.

He complained breathlessness around 5 p.m. on reaching home. Immediately, he was rushed to hospital.

Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam visited him at the hospital on Monday evening.
