She has accompanied her mother, the legendary M.S.Subbulakshmi, on the concert platform for decades. Radha Viswanathan had a unique opportunity that no one else did. Right from her childhood, she imbibed M.S. Subbulakshmi's uncompromising values that lay great emphasis on classicism, perfection and bhakti.

Imbibing such values with reverence and drawing upon her own rich experience of providing vocal support to the queen of Carnatic music, Ms. Viswanathan emerged a true torch-bearer of the style. In her recitals, she often makes fans nostalgic of her mother's divine music.

On the occasion of the seventh remembrance day of M.S. Subbalakshmi and the 77th birthday of Ms. Viswanathan, Brahma Gana Sabha will honour her with the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award', at a special function organised on December 11, at Sivagami Pethachi Auditorium, at 9.30 a.m.

Chairman of the Kalakshetra Foundation and former West Bengal Governor Gopalkrishna Gandhi will felicitate the senior artiste. President of the Sabha Nalli Kuppuswami Chetti will preside over the function. Mridangam vidwan T.K. Murthy, arts patron ‘Cleveland' V. V. Sundaram and former director of Doordarshan Kendra - Chennai A. Natarajan participate.

A concert by Radha Viswanathan, with her grand daughter S. Aishwarya, will follow the award ceremony.
