A man wanted in more than 15 cases in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh was hacked to death near Gummidipoondi in Tiruvallur District. K Dinakumar, a native of Turapalayam in Arappakkam, had many cases against him in the Arappakkam police station.

This included charges of assault on policemen, smuggling of red sanders and several other cases in Andhra Pradesh as well. Dinakumar was staying with his father in Chrompet and he had been detained under Goondas Act twice.

He had gone to SIPCOT, Gummidipoondi, to attack his rival, Arun, with whom he had a dispute over a monetary transaction.

When he was near Thirupuzhalpet on the SIPCOT-Pathirivedu Road on Tuesday night, Arun and his accomplice Siva Bharat attacked him with knives. They fled from the scene on Dinakumar’s motorcycle after committing the murder. Passers-by alerted the police. Tiruvallur District Superintendent of Police E.T. Samson has constituted a special team to investigate the case and track down the assailants.
