Free samples of ‘Nilavembu kashayam’ a herbal preparation, were distributed by volunteers from Pasumai Thayagam along with ‘Tamil Maruthava Kazhagam’ at Tambaram Saturday last.
Former Lok Sabha MP from Chengalpattu, A.K. Moorthy, told Downtown that instances of people falling ill due to dengue, malaria and fever were on the rise. Research was being carried out and encouraged by both the Central and State Governments to find a herbal cure for the same. The two voluntary organisations had come together and created ‘nilavembu kashayam’ a traditional and herbal preparation that could keep these fevers at bay, Mr. Moorthy said.
The two voluntary organisations, as part of their awareness campaigns, were distributing the kashayam free of cost to the people, Mr. Moorthy added. D. Velayudham of National Institute of Siddha (NIS) and Vice Chairman of IMPCOPS, said that the herbal powder contained vettiver, vilamichaver and dry ginger, pepper among other traditional herbs. Consumption of 60 ml of the ‘kashayam’ twice a day in the morning and evening would keep fever, body pain and joint aches at bay. K. Arumugham, former Chengalpattu MLA, was among others present on the occasion. The free samples were distributed near NIS to the general public and also those visiting the institute.
