Helmet rule being violated: CJ

June 24, 2016 12:00 am | Updated October 18, 2016 02:21 pm IST - CHENNAI:

Madras High Court Chief Justice S.K. Kaul on Wednesday confronted the Additional Advocate General on the poor implementation of the rule mandating helmets for two-wheeler riders and pillion riders.

Minutes after the court proceedings began, the Chief Justice looking at the Advocate General said, “I noticed a large number of two-wheeler riders without helmets. More than one child was being taken on a single bike. There could be aberrations, but here a large number of violations are being noticed.”

Responding to the query, the Additional Advocate General said that he would ascertain details from the authorities regarding compliance of the High Court order.
