An irate group of people attacked a government health centre at Semmanchery in Kancheepuram district on Saturday and ransacked it following the death of a 10-year-old boy.

Police said K. Karthik, came in contact with a live wire accidentally and was rushed to the primary health centre.

As there was no doctor there to attend to patients, a para-medical staff asked the people who brought the boy to take him to a full-fledged hospital.

The boy was taken to a private hospital nearby, where doctors pronounced him ‘dead on arrival.’

Relatives of the boy, alleging inadequacies at the government-run health centre, damaged properties there.

The police said no arrests have been made so far.
