HC fiat on CISF protection to Madurai Bench

April 01, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - Chennai:

The Madras High Court has directed the State government to issue an appropriate Government Order to provide Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) protection to the court’s Madurai Bench, and to take steps to this effect during the summer vacation.

The First Bench of Chief Justice S.K. Kaul and Justice M.M. Sundresh made the observation during a suo motu proceeding in connection with providing CISF security cover to the Madras High Court and its Madurai Bench.

On Wednesday, Advocate General A.L. Somayaji had submitted that Government Orders on this issue were delayed as the financial year was drawing to a close. He said that government representatives would sit with the Registrar General and the Assistant Solicitor General to remove anomalies, if any. The case was posted to April 13.
