Tribal Art of Odisha, an exhibition-cum-sale, organised by Akshya Handicrafts, is on at Sri Sankara Hall, TTK Road, Alwarpet.

A wide variety of eye catching handicrafts and handlooms from Odisha,  Rajasthan, Andhra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and Kerala are on display.

Sambalpuri cotton, Bomkai saris, Nuapatana silk, and other varieties produced from the tribal areas of Odisha such as Koraput, Balangir and Kalahandi, are on sale. Orissa palm leaf painting, patch work, tribal painting, dhokora work, palm leaf engraving work, brass items, Jaipur jewellery, bangles, Hyderabad pearls, gaghra choli, furnitures, are also on display.

A special discount of 20 per cent on handloom and 10 per cent on handicrafts is given. The exhibition is on till July 2 and is open from 10 a.m. to 9.30 p.m. For details, call 90948 10361.

At C.P. Art Centre

A handicraft exhibition is on at C.P. Art Centre, No. 1, Eldams Road, Alwarpet. The collection includes teakwood furniture, terracotta dolls and pots, and gem painting from Rajasthan; carpets from Panipat; dress materials from Kashmir; Jaipur quilts; and beaded bags from Gwalior. Others include Maheswari and Chanderi saris, brass items, acupressure products, accessories and jewellery, paintings, vegetable-dyed fabric, bed linen, and others.
