‘Weaves of India,' a handloom exhibition organised by Gramin Hastkala Vikas Samiti, is on at Valluvarkottam, Nugambakkam, HIG Road. The collection includes Moonga silk saris of Assam, printed silk saris from Delhi, Gujarat-Kantha, Patola, West Bengal, Baluchari, Rajasthan, Jharkhand Kosa silk, Karnatak Chintamani, Kasauti work and others.
An exotic collection of saris such as Upada, Mangalgiri, Garhwal, Dharmawaram, Pochampally from Andhra Pradesh.
Tussar, Matkaa and Khadi silk from Bihar, embroidered Pashmina shawls, dress material from Jammu and Kashmir, Chanderi and Maheshwari silk saris from Madhya Pradesh, Bomkai, block print from Orrisa, Kantha, tribal work from Chhattisgarh, intricately designed Banarasi silk saris and churidars, dress materials made of Dhupian silk, TG silk, spine silk and Khadi silk are also available. The fair closes on June 6 and it will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
