Handicraft expo begins

‘Festival of Crafts,' an annual exhibition of the Tamil Nadu Handicrafts Development Corporation, got off to a start at C.P. Arts Centre here on Wednesday.

Panchaloka idols, wooden statuettes, brass lamps, sandal wood carvings, Thanjavur art plates and paintings, Jaipur paintings, dolls made of clay and paper mache and stones are part of the display.

There is also an extensive array of ethnic home furnishing products such as intricately carved wooden chairs, dining tables, pooja mandapams made of teakwood, shelves and mantelpieces from Kashmir, jute products and carpets. The exhibition is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., till August 30. A 10 per cent discount is available on all the products.
