Handbook on voting procedures distributed

Two voluntary organisations in the Ambattur Municipality are distributing voters' handbook to spread awareness about voting procedures and people's rights.

On Saturday, SSI Development Society in Padi, released the handbook in Tamil, which is being distributed in constituencies such as Ambattur, Avadi and Madhavaram. R.A. Mohamed Kamal, the Society's president said besides emphasising the importance of voting, the handbook also elaborates on how to handle an emergency situation during the election time. About 2,000 copies would be distributed. The organisation has already brought out several handbooks on topics such as fire safety and first aid to HIV AIDS patients.

Krishnapuram Residents' Association has also brought out a voters' guide. The booklet contains the important rules people should follow to get EPIC. It also addresses various issues related to obtaining EPIC, said K. Ganapathy, president of Krishnapuram Residents' Association.
