Govt. school students to be sent on field trips abroad

Students from government schools will be sent on field visits to schools abroad, said K.A. Sengottaiyan, Minister for School Education. Speaking on the sidelines of an event at Anakaputhur on Tuesday, he said that training modules are being prepared by experts to help students from government schools to get acquainted with educational systems abroad.

“Teams of students will be sent to Norway, the U.S., Russia and Germany. Each team will have about 25 students and ₹3 crore has been allotted for the programme,” the Minister said. Detailing other proposals by the department, Mr. Sengottaiyan said that incentives would be awarded to 30 children studying in Tamil medium schools, as part of the Kamaraj birth anniversary celebrations.

The Minister dedicated 18 additional classrooms and laboratory buildings constructed at a cost of ₹2.73 crore in the Government Higher Secondary School, Anakaputhur. Additionally, ₹14 lakh has been taken from the local area development fund of the Sriperumbudur MP, K.N. Ramachandran for more infrastructural development, said officials from the department.
