In a major haul, officials on Tuesday recovered 13 kg of gold at the airport here, with the value of the seizure estimated to be around Rs five crore.

Customs officials found that one Riyaz Mohammed, who had returned from Singapore early this morning, was allegedly carrying 6.5 kg of gold in his suitcase.

He was detained for inquiry, airport officials said.

An unclaimed bag, which the CISF personnel secured and opened for examining, contained another 6.5 kg of gold in it, the officials said, adding, a probe was on to ascertain its owner.
