One person was arrested and 16.4 kg gold worth ₹4.6 crore was seized at Chennai airport on Monday.

J. Kumar, a baggage trolley driver of Visskan Aviation, in charge of baggage handling and wheelchair services for Indigo Airlines, was found to be transporting an untagged baggage from the international to domestic tarmac area.

On suspicion, the officials screened the baggage and found gold had been concealed inside a CPU, which was hidden in the baggage. There were 10 gold bars weighing one kg each and 18 gold bars weighing 100 g each.

Apart from this, jewellery was also concealed inside the CPU, according to a press release.

Further investigations are on.
