Gold jewellery stolen from scooter

Unidentified persons stole gold jewellery weighing half a kg from a jewellery dealer in Broadway on Tuesday.

The Elephant Gate police said that Prakash Chand (45) of MKB Nagar in Vysarpadi had come to meet his friend on Hanumantharayan Street at 8 p.m. He parked his scooter, in which he had kept two bags of gold jewellery weighing half kg each, and went inside his friend's house. Upon returning, he found his vehicle missing. Prakash Chand lodged a complaint with the Elephant Gate police, who later found the scooter abandoned on Ponnapparayan Street. The jewellery placed under the seat were intact while the ones kept in the front box were missing.

The jewellery lost is estimated to be over Rs.7 lakh, police added.
