Klaus Hartmut (67) of Germany, who was on a holiday at Mamallapuram, was reportedly found dead on Sunday.

According to the police, the deceased, having a valid tourist visa, came to Mamallapuram on December 15 last year and took on rent a portion of a house owned by Selvakumar on Thirukazhukundram Road.

On Sunday, when Hartmut’s friend, Sanjai of Thirukazhukundram, came to visit around 11.30 a.m., he found the doors locked from inside.

When repeated knocks failed to evoke any response from Hartmut, Sanjai looked through a window and saw Hartmut on a bed. He then broke open the doors with the help of others and rushed Hartmut, who was found in an unconscious state, to a private hospital.

On arrival at the hospital, doctors declared that Hartmut had already died, the police said.
