The police seized 100 g of ganja from a court complex in Tambaram on Tuesday. Subsequently, a remand prisoner in another case protested against the police for interrogating his father in connection with the seizure.

According to the police, more than 30 remand prisoners were brought to the judicial magistrate court in Tambaram from Puzhal prison. The prisoners were asked to sit on concrete benches and told to wait for their turn to appear before the Magistrate. One of the on-duty policemen found packets of the contraband under a bench, where the prisoners were seated and he picked up a man in this connection.

His son, a remand prisoner, S. Rajkumar (30) of Perumal Agaram near Tiruverkadu, protested against the police picking up his father. He allegedly hit his face on the floor repeatedly and got injured. He was rushed to the Government Hospital in Chromepet and later lodged in Puzhal prison.

The case is under investigation, said police sources.
