A gang struck at a used car dealership on CTH Road, Padi on Thursday and stole three vehicles and over Rs. 2 lakh in cash.

Sources with the Korattur police said the crime took place around 2 a.m. when one of the guards Gajendran was on duty.

A 10-member gang barged into the establishment and attacked the guard and locked him up in an office room on the premises. They then combed the office and took more than Rs. 2 lakh from a cash box. After spotting four parked cars, including three vehicles which were on resale and one brought in for servicing, the gang drove away in the vehicles.

The robbery came to light on Thursday morning when the other employees of the firm reported for duty and opened the room that Gajendran was locked in.

Following a complaint lodged by Biju, the manager of the firm, Korattur police have registered a case and are investigating.
