A gang that was loading suspected ration rice in a lorry allegedly assaulted a team of Civil Supplies CID officials and escaped at Sembium here on Tuesday.
According to police sources, the team went to the Ramanan Nagar area following a tipoff that some persons had stocked ration rice in a godown there. On seeing the officials, the accused who were loading the rice bags in a lorry, pushed them aside and drove away.
The Sembium police are investigating.
