Free injections for pregnant women

The Chennai Corporation will start administering iron sucrose injections free of cost to pregnant women who are anaemic, said Mayor M. Subramanian.

Installing colour television sets at 93 health centres of the civic body on Saturday, he said, “The scheme of administering free injections, at a cost of Rs.18 lakh per year, will benefit 3,000 women at the centres.” The improvements of various facilities and infrastructure at the maternity centres of the Corporation had been made on account of the increasing number of births registered at the centres, he said. A medical camp as part of the Varummun Kappom Thittam was also organised by the Corporation in Royapuram on Friday.
