Fracture on track affects MRTS services

Trains were held up at many stations until the fault was rectified

MRTS train services between Chennai Beach and Velachery stations were affected for about an hour due to a fracture on the track near Beach railway station on Wednesday morning.

The fracture was found around 10.30 a.m. Railway officials rushed to the spot and had it mended. Commuters said trains were held up at various stations until the fault was rectified. “I was held up at the Chepauk station. Initially we did not know the reason for the delay. Then there was an announcement that services would be delayed by an hour due to a crack on the track,” said S. Dileepan, a commuter.

Train services resumed by 11.30 a.m., railway officials said.
