Within 12 hours of the murder of a 27-year-old history-sheeter at his residence in Ekangi Puram, Ayanavaram, police apprehended the four killers outside the Chennai Central railway station on Sunday morning.

The murder took place around 7 p.m. on Saturday, when the victim Viji alias Vijayakumar was at his house on 4 Street in Ekangi Puram along with his family. The four suspects, Sudhakar (27) from Kodungaiyur, Imran (25), Ramesh (25) and Vinod Kumar (28), all from Pulinathope, who were Viji’s associates hacked him to death.

The murder followed a minor altercation between Viji and the four men, all of whom were in an inebriated state, Otteri police sources said.

The four men were remanded in custody and sent to the Puzhal prison.
