The Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) will organise food festivals and fun games and handicrafts shows at the ongoing India Tourist and Industrial Fair on Island Grounds here during weekends. According to an official release, about 60 self help groups of Tamil Nadu Corporation for Development of Women Limited will display and sell about 33 products on February 5 and 6. The products include fashion jewellery, clay and soft toys, embroidery saris, stone carving, Kolli hills organic products, Kundan jewellery and Thanjavur shield art plates among others. On the same day, adventure game shows would be organised.
A TTDC official said between February 12 and 16, a Chettinad food festival, Gramathu virundhu, couple candle light dinner, fruit festival and sea food festival would be held. “The fair has already attracted over nine lakh visitors and our target is 17 lakh people in the next 35 days. We have scheduled fashion show, dance and singing competitions. There would also be exciting prizes to be won, including TVS Apache bike and TVS Scooty Pep,” he said.
