Fire safety is the focus on Martyrs’ Day

The National Fire Service Day-cum-Martyrs’ Day was observed on Monday in memory of fire and rescue personnel who died during rescue operations.

Officials and personnel from the Fire and Rescue Services Department and dignitaries from other departments paid homage to firemen who lost their lives in harness. The event took place at the State Training Centre in Tambaram. Director of Fire and Rescue Services Department, R.C. Kudawla placed a wreath at the memorial pillar at the station. The names of 28 personnel, who lost their lives, were also read out.

Various awareness programmes on safety measures will be conducted.

The programme, ‘Fire prevention is the best Insurance’ would spread awareness on the necessity and importance of fire safety.
