Fire at complex in Kilpauk; none injured

A small fire broke out at 8.15 p.m. in a commercial complex, Dowlath Tower, on Taylor’s Road in Kilpauk on Thursday. No casualties were reported in the incident.

According to the staff at the complex and fire and rescue services personnel, the blaze broke out in a warehouse on the ground floor where old electronics equipment was stored.

Though six fire tenders were initially called in, only two had to be deployed. Two Metrowater lorries were also called in. It took the personnel at least an hour to put out the fire.

The complex houses various companies and concerns including Geodis, Source HOV India Pvt. Limited, Commercial Tax department and Honeywell.

R.R. Dharani, an employee working in a firm housed in the complex for the last seven years, said the employees were immediately evacuated. Another employee said around 150 people were working on each floor.
