A Madurai-based financier has lodged a complaint alleging that he was threatened by an underworld gang from Mumbai after he demanded repayment of ₹10 lakh he had advanced to Gurusamy alias Mumbai Gurubhai, who claimed to be a personal assistant to the jailed former Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Chhagan Bhujbal.

The money was advanced to allegedly produce a Tamil film starring Vijay.

In his complaint to the city police commissionerate on Thursday, R. Selvapandian said Gurusamy and his wife Semmalar told him that they were going to produce the film in their son’s name and that it would be directed by M.R. Balamithran.

They wanted him to be the co-producer.

He advanced the amount in 2016.

After Bhujbal was arrested by the Mumbai police in connection with a criminal case, a special team came down to Madurai and enquired about the whereabouts of Gurusamy, Mr. Selavapandian claimed.
