Final poll rolls on January 5

The final electoral rolls will be published on January 5, 2011, and EPIC cards distributed to new electors at designated locations on January 25, the National Voters' Day, Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Kumar has said.

The Election Commission received 12,68,912 forms for inclusion in the rolls and 15,844 forms for deletion till November 13, the period fixed for receiving claims and objections. Chennai received the maximum number of 1.05 lakh applications for inclusion followed by Kancheepuram (72,496), Vellore (72,295), Villupuram (69,999), Tiruvannamalai (55,223) and Cuddalore (56,534). Ariyalur received only 6,552 and the Nilgiris, 9,437 applications for inclusion, election officials said.

In addition, 74,359 forms have been received for corrections and 33,058 forms for change of address within an Assembly constituency, he said.
