Final electoral roll released

Chennai district has a total of 30,23,900 voters as per the final electoral roll for 2011. The voters' enumeration has increased by 3.16 per cent after the draft electoral roll released in October.

A total of new 92,697 voters have been added to the electoral roll, said a press release from Corporation Commissioner and Chennai district electoral officer D.Karthikeyan.

Of the total number of voters, 15, 14,037 are men and 15,09,571 women and 292 are categorised as others. In Chennai, there are 3,225 polling booths.

Voters could check whether their names have been included from the list on display at the respective polling booths and Corporation zonal offices, the release said.

In Kancheepuram, there are 24,79,221 voters as per the final electoral roll for the 11 assembly constituencies.

Of this, 12,49,074 are men and 12,30,147 are women voters, said District Revenue Officer and Collector (in-charge), S.Sivarasu.
