January 08, 2014 08:55 am | Updated May 13, 2016 07:59 am IST - CHENNAI:

Awareness about road safety must begin in schools, said K. Ramanujam, director general of police, Tamil Nadu, on Tuesday.

The senior police officer was addressing an event organised by the Automobile Association of Southern India (AASI) to release three films on road safety. A documentary titled ‘Safety Begins with You,’ an animation film for children titled ‘Ready, Steady, Slow,’ and a music video ‘Life is Beautiful,’ were released on the occasion.

The films were produced by AASI, in association with Kavithalayaa Productions Private Limited, for Road Safety Week that is observed in the first week of every calendar year.

“I hope the short films and the music video will be screened in public forums so they reach more people, especially youngsters,” said Mr. Ramanujam.
