About 50 huts were gutted in a fire at Vyasarpadi here on Monday. According to police sources, the fire occurred in a hut at Sanjay Nagar area around 1.30 p.m. With strong winds blowing, the flames spread quickly to other huts. Though fire tenders reached the area within minutes, the narrow and congested lanes delayed the rescue and relief operations.
People throw stones
Angered over this local people threw stones damaging a couple of vehicles. The cause of fire is under investigation, the sources added.
