Office-bearers of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) will not participate in the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) award function in Sri Lanka, said actor Kamal Haasan, who is also the FICCI Media Entertainment Business Conclave Chairman.
His statement came in the backdrop of a demonstration by a group demanding his resignation as the Chairman and that he return his Padma Shri award.
In his statement, the actor said nothing could be achieved by returning the civilian award and “small bodies such as FICCI” could not prevent companies from carrying out their business in other countries.
Stating that FICCI Entertainment president and other office-bearers would not be present at the IIFA function to be held in Colombo in June, Kamal Haasan said they would also boycott the business forum scheduled to be held as part of the IIFA function.
