Festival to showcase art and craft of Auroville

February 26, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:43 am IST - CHENNAI:

Auroville with its population of 2,400 persons from 50 nationalities, over 400 units and services and the famed Matrimandir and banyan tree is just 132 km from Chennai. Yet how many of us have found the time to experience the experiment that it is?

Keeping in mind the need to share their achievements in arts, culture, education, handicrafts and alternative technologies, Aurovilians will be organising a month-long festival called ‘What is Auroville’ at 30 venues across Chennai next month.

Addressing a press meet here on Wednesday, Elaine Philips, member, festival committee, said that the festival intends to showcase Auroville through many events, cultural programmes, exhibitions, workshops, discussion forums and seminars.
