Festival promotes inclusion through art

March 02, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:32 am IST - CHENNAI:

In an attempt to bring in inclusion through art and design for differently-abled persons, heritage centre Dakshina Chitra organised an art and music festival on Sunday.

The event, organised by Inklink Charitable Trust, Vidya Sagar and Madras Craft Foundation, saw designers and differently-abled persons work together at the festival.

Rajul Padmanabhan of Vidya Sagar said, “This is a part of youth project where the focus is to give differently-abled youth opportunities that people of their age get. The logo of the event was designed by a differently-abled person and the venue was made accessible to them. This way, the designers come to understand the various aspects of disability.”

Kausav Sengupta, founder of Inklink Charitable Trust, said, “Several differently-abled persons have created stalls. There are workshops for wood designing, painting and salsa,” he said.
