Father of Tamil actor goes missing

Tamil actor-director Tarun Gopi lodged a complaint with the office of the Commissioner of Police on Monday stating his 75-year-old father had gone missing after leaving his residence in Maduravoyal on Saturday.

According to police sources, Gopi, in his complaint said, his father, Ponniah Thevar had left the house around 11 a.m. on Saturday as usual but did not return home till Monday. Thevar often met some friends for tea at a shop a few streets away from his son’s house and would return by 5 p.m. every day.

After he failed to return on Saturday evening, Gopi and other family members searched in various places, including the residences of relatives in different parts of the State.

As the search did not throw up any clues to his father’s whereabouts, he approached the police commissionerate, the police said.
