Sri RKM Sarada Vidyalaya Girls Higher Secondary School, Usman Road, T. Nagar, conducted a science exhibition recently.

Totally 31 projects on various topics such as transport and communication, environment and community health, industries, natural resources and mathematics were displayed.

On solar energy

To mark the International Year of Sustainable Energy, a project on solar energy was created by the students showcasing a solar-powered house with solar fan, solar water heater, solar cookers and solar car.

This year, also being the International Year of Mathematics and the birth centenary of S. Ramanujam, five projects on mathematics were put on display.

Project on space travel and tele-communication, models of PSLV, Apollo II, moon and Chandrayaan, etc were the highlights.

A model of astronaut Neil Armstrong walking on the moon’s surface bagged applause.

The first prize was won by the project on environment and community health with vector-borne diseases such as malaria and dengue fever as the theme.

Second prize went to the solar-powered house. The model depicting Sipco with different industries such as chemical, fertilizer, tanning and paper won the third prize.

R. Govindaraj, Joint General Secretary, Exnora International, was the chief guest and R. Sridharan, president T. Nagar East Exnora Innovators Club, was a special invitee.
