For residents who wish for a glimpse into the window of contemporary life in Europe, the 20{+t}{+h}European Union Film Festival is a must watch.
It has been organised by the delegation of European Union to India and the Indo Cine Appreciation Foundation (ICAF), in association with Alliance Francaise of Madras and Goethe Institut/Max Muller Bhavan.
The two-week-long festival, which began on Tuesday, promises an exciting array of films, ranging from romantic comedies to thrillers. It will be held at Alliance Francaise till April 4, and continue at Max Muller Bhavan, thereafter.
Bart De Groof, consul general of the Consulate General of Belgium in Chennai, inaugurated the festival.
“Though the European Union has been in the news more for its monetary crisis, it is a matter of pride there is such integration between countries so culturally varied. In places of such dynamic diversity, cultural exchange is very important. I believe a film festival like this is an example of bridging different cultures,” he said.
