Engineering forms from May 6

Sale of application forms for admission through single-window counselling to B.E./B.Tech programmes offered by Anna University and affiliated colleges will begin on May 6.

Notification to this effect will be issued on May 4. The forms will be sold at 60 centres, including at Anna University, Chennai. The last date for sale of application forms is May 27. However, in Anna University, Chennai, sale of forms will continue till May 29. The last date to submit filled-in forms is 5 p.m. on May 29.

Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission secretary V. Rhymend Uthariaraj said as many as 2.4 lakh application forms had been printed. A total of 1.8 to 1.9 lakh students will be admitted through single-window counselling.

Forms are priced at Rs. 500 for general category applicants and for applicants from Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities they will be sold at Rs. 250. The list of centres is available in the University’s website www.annauniv.edu/tnea2015.

MBBS forms

The sale of MBBS and BDS application forms for the academic year 2015-16 will begin on May 11.

Speaking to reporters at the Madras Medical College on Friday, R.G. Sukumar, secretary of the selection committee, Directorate of Medical Education, said a notification would be published in newspapers on May 10, following which sale of forms would begin.

“Forms will be available at all 19 government medical colleges. Students can also download it online. Sales will last until May 28. The deadline for submitting filled-in application forms is 5 p.m. on May 29,” he said. The form costs Rs. 500. The merit list is expected to be released on June 12. Like last year, the number of government seats will be 2,555, Mr. Sukumar said.

However, if the Medical Council of India’s approval comes in for the government medical college at Omandurar Estate in Chennai, an additional 100 seats will be available, said S. Geethalakshmi, Director of Medical Education. “We will get to know the MCI’s decision by next month and if approval comes through, the seats will be handed over to the selection committee,” she said.

About 40,000 application forms will be printed this year, similar to last year. However, if more are needed, they will be printed, Mr. Sukumar said.
