Engineer killed

A 30-year-old engineer died when the motorcycle he was riding was pinned between two vehicles at Perungalathur on Tuesday morning.

St. Thomas Mount Traffic Police (Investigation) personnel said Sammanthan Sukumaran was a resident of Mahalakshmi Nagar in Guduvanchery and working in a leading multinational engineering company in Kelambakkam on Rajiv Gandhi Salai.

He was travelling to Tambaram to meet someone before work. On Grand Southern Trunk Road, a container lorry with a Haryana State registration number hit Sukumaran from behind. In the impact, he was sandwiched between the container lorry and a mini lorry ahead of him. He died on the spot.

Ram Shankar Verma of Uttar Pradesh, the driver of the container lorry, has been arrested, police said.
